We are preparing for the National Greyhound Week Celebrations

Children Go Free

Family-Oriented Activities

Meet our Sporting Legends

We are gearing up for the third annual National Greyhound Week celebrations, after bumper attendances at last year’s summer event. For our dedicated National Greyhound Week race meeting on 27th August, the track will be offering free entry for all children and family-oriented activities alongside an exciting series of races.

National Greyhound Week is an annual event, run by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB), designed to help tracks celebrate the importance of greyhound racing to many communities across the country, both as a source of local employment and of entertainment for all. The theme of this year’s National Greyhound Week, “Meet Our Sporting Legends”, builds on the success of the recent Share Your Life With A Greyhound campaign, featuring rugby legend Joe Marler, to promote retired racers as pets.

This summer, we will be offering opportunities to present trophies to race
winners in line with the “Meet Your Sporting Legends” theme. Local greyhound rehoming charity Yarmouth Homefinders, along with GREYS – Finding Homes for Hounds, will also be attending the track to speak with spectators about the joys of adopting a retired racing greyhound. They will have with them some of their retired racers who are awaiting adoption, offering an opportunity for spectators to meet and interact with these ex-sporting legends.

Simon Franklin, Promoter of Yarmouth Stadium, said:

Yarmouth Stadium is excited to be taking part in National Greyhound Week for the third year running, following fantastic attendances at our event last year. This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate our sport and the central role it plays in our community as another successful summer season comes to a close.

In line with the theme of Meeting our Sporting Legends, we are particularly pleased that Yarmouth Homefinders & GREYS will be bringing along some of our wonderful ex-racers whare available for adoption. We hope to welcome plenty of new and old faces to meet these wonderful greyhounds, watch some exciting racing and take part in the family-friendly activities we will have on offer.
