After Corona Virus put paid to last year’s running, this year’s George Ing St Ledger was highly anticipated, and built to a dramatic final, featuring a shootout between Mark Wallis trained Bo Shine Bullet, the current star of staying events around the country, and the emerging challenger Blue Tick George, trained by Jim Daly, the pair returned 11/10 joint favorites with the Stadium Bookmakers.
As the traps opened Blue Tick George set the early pace, Bo Shine Bullet dropped into second place along the front straight, then the battle was set for the final circuit, to loud acclaim from the socially distant crowd. Bo Shine Bullet started to reduce the gap at the fifth turn, but even with the long run to the winning line at Yarmouth, Blue Tick George was able to fend off the challenge to take the £7,500 winner’s prize, with Bo Shine Bullet having to settle for the runners up prize, £750. The distance between them, just one and three quarter lengths, the winning time 40.31 seconds.
